Sun Polishing & Plating is a custom metal finishing shop serving a wide variety of clients and markets from our location in Toronto. We are perfectly suited to handle a range of parts, from restorations to major production runs. Sun provides our clients with industry-leading processes, in addition to specialized techniques such as our custom gold plating process, all with a commitment to our environment and community! Specialty sectors that we serve include metal fabrication industries that produce contract custom furniture, store fixture, custom lighting, and all manner of metal artisan craft works.

Our Sun family is a dedicated team of 20 experienced technicians who’ve been with us for a minimum of five years - many over 15 years - who are well trained and skilled to produce fantastic results for our clients.

Our History

Sun Polishing & Plating was founded by husband and wife team, Marko & Elfriede Horvatin as the Sun Polishing and Buffing Company in 1959 and soon grew to include metal plating to satisfy the demand from clients in the Toronto area primarily in the lamp and lighting manufacturing industries. Then, in 1968 Sun moved to its current location at 30 Nashville Avenue.

A major expansion to the facility in 1974 added improved efficiencies and a new modern, environmentally focused metal finishing facility - an industry leading achievement.

Today, Sun Polishing & Plating has grown into a family of dedicated and experienced team members, remaining family owned and operated throughout its history. Sun is currently under the management of Marko & Elfriede’s sons, Michael as Production Manager, and Tony as Technical Manager. Our enviable reputation within the metal fabrication industry as leaders in quality finishing is a testament to the ongoing care and success of Sun’s management team to maintain our company's high standards.
